The unexpected left turn

nannerb5749

The wonderful thing about wandering is the ability to change plans when something shiny catches our eyes.

That is what happened to us at lunch in Ashton, ID.

Eric liked his beer so much we took a left and headed east towards Victor, ID in order to sample more of their beer at the Grand Teton Brewery

Since we were now close to Wyoming, we decided that Grover Park in Afton, WY would be an appropriate camp for our Grover that night. Mother Nature gave us a show as the sun went down

And then the wolves came out! Neither of us were quick enough to get the initial howl fest, but Eric got the tail end before we high tailed it into the camper!! Turn up the volume on this video to have a listen for yourselves

Our next stop was another beauty from Mother Nature. A natural cold water spring that acts like a geyser. It flows for about 15 minutes, then dries up for about 15 minutes. It's the largest rhythmic spring in the world, situated in Star Valley, Wyoming. But how does it work?? We took picture of informational sign to help explain

We climbed to the top just as the spring started to spill. Was very cool!

The same view with and without the water flow.

The water was so clear. Nice to know places like this exist. There was only one other person we saw the entire time we were there. Very peaceful

And in case you thought this was the only cool thing in Afton, Wyoming, you are mistaken. This place is also home of the largest elk antler arch in the world!!

Time to head towards Lava Hot Springs, our original destination that day when the shiny beer caught our eye 😎

See you on the road! Just maybe not this one 😉
