We had to get to Sedona first and that was an adventure on it's own. So many signs as we left Flagstaff to take the 17 miles of switchbacks on scenic 89A . No trucks over 40ft allowed. We are approximately 42 ft all together truck and trailer which made it reasonable for us to take the drive down approx 2500 ft of elevation in just a few short miles

Thank goodness Eric's crazy brain stayed in check and we didn't go off the edge! So grateful he's gotten very comfortable driving our rig. Something I have yet to do!
Once we emerged from the switchbacks the drive through the canyon was beautiful and we arrived at Rancho Sedona RV Park unscathed!

We spent our days soaking up the warm sun and exploring the area. We hiked Twin Buttes and Broken Arrow trail which offered beautiful scenery, a challenging climb and a few Pink Jeeps
We also went to Sedona Wetland Preserve in hopes of seeing cool birds other than some Goldeneyes and a Wood Duck the place was a complete fail. Not that Eric didn't try hard to find something interesting!! Nellie and I were just out for a walk 😊
We took advantage of our campground being so close to uptown Sedona. Flatiron, Bison pot roast and Old Fashions at Cowboy club were very good
We stepped it up a bit at Saltrock Kitchen in Amara Resort with a naked & famous with our Pork Belly Toatadas at the bar
before dining on the patio with yummy fall gin cocktails and the chef's interpretation of southwestern entrees of Shrimp Tamales and Chicken Mole
Each evening we went to Sound Bites for some live music. Same guy, Robin Miller, played each night which was ok with us. He had great talent on the piano and guitar
A seldom experienced rain that last night in Sedona gave the following morning some dramatic views
Our last stop was to be early lunch at Tomaliza, where the locals go for Mexican. We attempted this earlier in the trip but they were closed. This time, no parking for our full rig. We stopped at a local BBQ joint, Chilleen's on 17, instead. Looks like a place that could get pretty rowdy on a Saturday night but lunch had only a few characters hanging around and good food
Off to Maricopa County for our Thanksgiving visit Barb and Ron 🦃
See you on the road
