We spent 4 days along the South Fork of the Boise River at a small campground called Bird Creek. Our friend, Megan and her dog, Sesame, joined us along with Stephanie, Mike and Oso. Nice part of camping mid week in September was the solitude of the area. No other campers, fishermen or day trippers to contend with!! What we did have to deal with was frequent visits from the local 🦊

Megan was greeted upon her arrival the first night. Our picnic table had a welcome 💩 when we pulled in. The second night held a brief walk through camp with a midnight snack of Stephanie's flip flop! They ate Oso's bowl of food while we were away midday. They got braver each evening and we learned the squirrel warning chirps as the foxes got close. The last night was full on fox invasion with the older foxes staring us down on one side of camp while the younger ones scooted back and forth from the bushes on the other. You could tell they were used to humans tossing them food by their fires and a bit confused that we were not. So cute to see them up close and wonder how our ancestors are related!
We had a relaxing few days along the south fork.

We all tried our hand at fishing but no one but the osprey caught anything. Good thing we brought more than enough food for all of us. Special call out to Tom and Linda for the sauerkraut pic. Eric finally ate it with his pastrami sandwich!
Oso tried fishing. No no, that's wrong, he is just all about the BALL
Some of the other highlights from our trip were:
Hot Spring of Baumgartner
Full moon over our campsite
And magical fire crystals
As Stephanie and Mike headed back to Boise, we stopped at Anderson Ranch Reservoir for one more night. The water has receded in late summer and we were able to set up camp far from anyone else.

It was one of those rare days where Nellie got to run and swim off lead!!
As night fell, the sky turned lovely colors

And the campfire at night highlighted the Big Dipper right where it is supposed to go; over our left shoulder ðŸŒ

Wonderful memories made this camp trip!
Until next time...
See you on the road
