Sometimes a plan just comes together!
We were loose in timing our stay in Phoenix. It would be around Barb’s birthday but exact dates were unclear. When we started to reserve campsites it became apparent we should have booked long ago! The week we arrived in Goodyear was also the start of Spring Training. Here's where our good fortune began.
Our New York plates draw conversation from others at campgrounds. Someone always wants to know where in New York we are from and what we are doing in that particular place. Roper Lake was no exception. As we chatted with a seasoned camping couple, they offered Maricopa County Parks as an option for our Phoenix stay. Bingo! Three of our four nights solved at White Tank Mountain County Park. We were trying everything for the remaining night Walmarts, BLM camping, Harvest Host, Dyrt app; nothing open for us. Then, the morning we were leaving Roper Lake, Ron found a one night opening at the local RV park. It was just what we needed. So fortunate!
Another fellow Roper Lake camper convinced us to take the scenic route to Phoenix on Route 191 through the Pinal Mountains. After our previous Sunday adventure, we were going to play it safe and drive the dreaded Route 10 through Tuscan. But these folks had done the mountain pass in a rig bigger than ours and weather was going to be beautiful so through the mountains we went. The scenery was incredible and the roads were hilly but clear. So fortunate that strangers took the time to share their knowledge. It was a gorgeous drive!
Lastly, we were fortunate to spend four days with Barb and Ron. We ate, drank, shopped and celebrated for the duration. We reorganized my camper kitchen space which really needed a mind that works differently than mine and Barb even colored my hair!

We are off bright and early to head north for a night in Vegas with our youngest daughter, Hanna.
See you on the road!
